Essential Knowledge Briefings

February 12, 2015
/ / /

We have produced the copy for the majority of Wiley’s Essential Knowledge Briefings (EKBs) in the area of microscopy and spectroscopy, as well as working with Wiley to define the original concept and structure for the briefings. These 5000-word guides to the latest techniques, applications and equipment used in analytical science are written in an accessible style, modelled after feature articles in popular science magazines such as New Scientist.

JES Editorial has written seven of the EKBs that have been published so far. The titles of these EKBs are:

  • Super-resolution microscopy
  • Correlative light and electron microscopy
  • Light-sheet microscopy
  • Energy dispersive spectroscopy
  • Electron backscatter diffraction
  • Electron probe microanalysis
  • Focused ion beam nanofabrication.

EKBs are intended to provide a readable introduction to these analytical techniques for scientists working in both academia and industry, and can be downloaded for free at www.essentialknowledgebriefings.com.

New name, new website, same company

The copywriting company JE Science Ltd has changed its name to JES Editorial Ltd and re-launched its website. While providing a clear connection to the old name, the new name better reflects the editorial and copywriting focus of the company. It also makes clear that we have expanded beyond providing just scientific content, although that remains a particular speciality, and can now provide content in a wide range of professional areas, including engineering, medicine, IT and law.

With the new name comes a new, improved website, which details all the writing and editorial services we offer and also provides information about some of our clients and past projects. Visitors to the website can sign up to receive a monthly newsletter, containing news about the company and the projects we are working on, as well as examples of some of our latest writing work. ‘With a new name and website, JES Editorial is entering a new phase in its development,’ says JES Editorial founder and director Jon Evans. ‘We are looking forward to continuing our good relationships with our existing clients, while also introducing a whole range of new clients to our expert writing and editing services.’
